To play in any of the league programs listed below, one must:

  • Meet the player minimum age criteria: 19 years old for Adult League; 50 years for Senior League; 60 years for Super Senior League; 70 years for Super Duper Senior League
  • Possess a valid, current USTA Membership;
  • Possess a valid National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) Rating or complete the self-rating process on-line when joining a team.

 To Get on a Team

If you are interested in participating in an MCTA League program but do not currently have a team to join,  complete our on-line Player Profile Questionaire providing your name and contact information, your current NTRP rating, and specific placement interest (for example, 6.0 Mixed Doubles, 6.5 Women's Combo, etc.).  MCTA's Executive Assistant to Membership, Terri Wallendjack, will contact you personally to confirm your interests, and will circulate names of players looking for teams to established captains looking for new players. You may enhance your chances of joining a team by attending one of the regularly scheduled MCTA Tennis Socials, at which new players meet one another and established players in a fun tennis environment. For a schedule of MCTA Tennis Socials, click here.

Also, consider becoming a team captain!  MCTA offers formal training, tools and tips, and one-on-one mentoring for those who agree to captain a league team, along with various recognition rewards (e.g., raffles, free tennis racket, tickets to Legg Mason Tennis Classic, etc.). Be sure to discuss what is involved in captaining a team when you talk with Terri!

To Register for a Team You’ve Been Invited to Join

Before a player is eligible to participate in a league match, (s)he must be registered as a team member. To join a team, players sign up on-line via the League Tennis TennisLink website. To register, a player will need (1) his/her USTA Membership Number (you can sign up or renew membership via the League TennisLink website); (2) a team-specific Team Code (provided to you by the team captain); and (3) a major credit card. Follow these steps to register:

  1. Log on to the League TennisLink Homepage: http://national.usta.com/leagues
  2. On the right side of the Homepage, click on “Register for a Team.”
  3. A screen will appear asking you to input (1) your USTA Membership Number and (b) your 10-digit Team Code. If your membership expires before the end of the local season, you will be prompted to renew before you may join a team.
  4. Once you complete step #3, the TennisLink system will automatically check the national database to make sure you are eligible to participate in the league you wish to join. If you do not have a current NTRP Rating, you will be asked a series of questions and prompted to select a self-rating. Note: the self-rating cannot be higher than the level league you wish to join. If the system assigns you a self-rating with which you do not agree, be sure to appeal before leaving this webpage!
  5. When finished, click “Submit” and provide the necessary credit card information. You will be charged an administrative fee ranging from $15-$35 depending on the league you are joining. (You can review the current league fee schedules by clicking here.)
  6. Finally, you will be provided an opportunity to print an e-receipt for your registration. Please do so, and retain it until you are certain your registration has been completed satisfactorily and your name appears on the team roster.
