2010 League Calendar Changes; Senior League Moved to Winter

MCTA has restructured the 2010 League calendar to move Men's and Women's Senior League play to the January - April timeframe. The shift will allow the Senior season to expand from a 5-week program to a roughly 12-week program. Senior Mixed, Super Senior, and Super Duper Senior divisions will continue to be offered in the late Spring - early Summer timeframe, with Senior Mixed starting earlier in the summer than was the case in 2009. This new approach positions MCTA to offer league programing exclusively for Senior players for the better part of 8 months in the calendar year, compared to the current 2 months of senior play. This change means that Senior League teams must organize and register in December 2009 to be ready for local match play beginning in January. Winter Combo, Winter Mixed Doubles, and Winter Ladies Day League registrations also open for team registration beginning December 1st. 

Year-End NTRP Ratings Released; Substantial Number of Move-ups Nation-wide
Year-end, computer-generated NTRP ratings are now available for review on TennisLink. A player's "year-end rating" is the rating he or she must use when registering for any 2010 league program. To find your rating, go to Tennislink for Leagues and click on "Find a Rating." The best way to search -- and the only way to appeal -- is to enter one's USTA Membership Number and click "Go." Be sure to read Mid-Atlantic Section's detailed information on appeals, before you go to TennisLink. Also note USTA National has posted an announcement indicating that an "adjustment" in the NTRP system is being made this year, resulting in substantially more "move-ups" than has been the case in the recent past.
