The Tweeners came in 1st place and advance to the JTT National Championship in Arizona in October. The Spin Heads put up a great fight coming in 2nd place - by only 3 games. Both teams had a great time and displayed exemplary sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Way to go!
Wondering if JTT is right for you??
MCTA/JTT offers recreational competitive tennis for juniors age 8 - 18 at the Intermediate and Advanced levels. Click here to find out more.
A note about match times and locations: Matches are scheduled when clubs/facilities provide court time to us. However, because we cannot know prior to the start of the season how many teams will register in each division and what court place/times are availabile, we can provide only a guideline - we do not guarantee that all matches times will be typical of past seasons.
- Generally, we attempt to schedule age groups as such: 10 and under - Saturday afternoons and evenings; 12 and under - Saturday afternoons and evenings; 14 and under - both Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings; 18 and under - Sunday evenings, with occasional spill over onto Friday evenings.
- During the spring season, after many of the bubbles have been taken down, court availablity is greatly reduced. We expect to hold matches at Cabin John (Pauline Betz Addie Center), TCCP in College Park, and Wheaton Regional Park. Given the popularity of the 2010 JTT Championship season, we will hold some JTT matches outdoors for the first time.
MCTA JTT Seasons
Fall 2010 (October - December):
Team registration will be open from Aug. 23 - September 20th; match play is scheduled to begin October 1st. Each team can expect to play 10 matches over the 11 week season. Player registration will remain open after the start of the season as long as teams are in need of players. New this season - all teams may be co-ed with any number of boys and girls on a team.
Prior to the season start, there will be a captains meeting for all registered captains and anyone considering captaining a team. This will give returning and new captains an opportunity to weigh in on any changes and an opportunity for potiential captains to ask questions. Date and location tba.
Winter 2011 (January - April):
The 2010 winter season was quite a challenge given the snow and bubble failures at some clubs. Sixty teams and more than 350 players, more than in any other season, gave it their all when the weather permitted for another great round of league play this winter. The 2011 winter season is expected to run mid-Jan - April, with team registration beginning in early December. Check back for exact dates as the season approaches.
Spring 2010 season (May - June):
The 2010 regular Spring Season ended on June 27th. Four teams advanced to the Maryland JTT District Championships at McDonough School in Woings Mills, Md on July 17th and 18th. Two teams will advance to the Mid-Atlantic Section Championship at the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Va. Nationals 14's will be held in Surprise, Az Oct. 22-24, 2010; Nationals 18's will be in Surprise, Az Oct 29-31, 2010.
The 2010 spring season was our 2nd Championhip season. JTT continues to grow - seventeen teams and 119 players (significantly up from 2009) competed for the chance to advance to the state championships. In each Championship season, division winners compete for the chance to play at the USTA Maryland State Championships. The top two teams from the State Championships advance to the USTA Mid-Atlantic Championships. Winners in the 14-under and 18-under divisions advance to the USTA JTT Natiional Championships.
Summer 2010:
MCTA does not offer a summer season. Please check back in the fall. Or consider the Junior Ladder which runs late spring through early fall. It's a great deal for $10 - unlimited play, rolling enrollment, and matches when/where you want them. Go to www.competitionmanager.com/application/home.php?org_id=125 for more information.
Remember to check the USTA's Tennislink site for league and match information
