Status of Team Deposit Account

Each captain paid a pre-season deposit in order to receive a Team Code and register her team for the league season. That deposit is held and used to pay for any default courts the team incurs during the season. The net balance is refunded at the end of the season. MCTA publishes weekly an update of the status of each team's deposit account, and captains are encouraged to review this report regularly, reporting any discrepancies to Dave Pullen for investigation and resolution. Check the season-end Team Deposit Status Report here.

Q&A about the MCTA Winter Ladies Day League

What is the format of the Ladies Day League?
Each Ladies Day League team match will consist of three, 2-hour timed doubles matches.
How much will it cost to participate in the Ladies Day League?
Each team is charged $102 per match.  This equates to $17 per player per match. This price covers court fees, tennis balls, and administrative costs.  Players pre-pay for a few matches when the register in Tennislink; captains pay to balance of court fees owed through the MCTA On-Line Store, then collect reimbursement from their players.
What dates will the Ladies Day League run?
The Ladies Day League will run from early January up to MCPS Spring Break in mid-April.
How many players are allowed on a team?
A team may have up to 20 players (6 players are needed for each match). All players must be registered in TennisLink in order to play for a team. MCTA recommends a minimum of 10 players. Each team will have a captain, sometimes two co-captains.
How times per week will each team play?
It depends on the number of teams that register; but generally, each team will play once, or possibly twice, a week.
Will there be a set schedule for team matches?
There will be a published schedule for the season.  Teams will play on different days and possibly different locations each week.  Matches will be scheduled Monday-Friday with start times ranging from 10:00am to 12:30pm (depending on facility availability).
Where will the Ladies Day League Matches be played?
The Ladies Day League will be played at various Montgomery County public, private and commercial tennis clubs. If you represent a facility willing to host League matches, please advise us!
Does one need to be a USTA (United States Tennis Association) member to participate?
Yes.  Every player and captain must be a member of the United States Tennis Association to play in the league.  To join the USTA go to Join the USTA.   MCTA will provide a tutorial for all players explaining registration and use of  Tennislink.

Are there different levels of play in the Ladies Day League?
The MCTA Ladies Day League will use NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program)  ratings for the leagues. Some players may not have a rating.  The self rating procedure they must follow can be reviewed on the Tennislink site.

If one has played in the Country Club Interclub League before, some approximate guidelines are:
Green C and Yellow C                 2.5 to 3.0 NTRP rating
High Yellow and Blue C              3.0 NTRP rating
Red C                                             3.0 to 3.5 NTRP rating
Blue B                                             3.5 NTRP rating
Red B                                              3.5 NTRP rating
Blue A                                              3.5 to 4.0 NTRP rating
Red A                                               4.5 NTRP rating
Please remember that these are only guidelines.  A self rated player will generate a computer rating after playing a season of Ladies Day League.

Do you have to sign up with a team with the Ladies Day League, or can you sign up individually?
To enroll in the Ladies Day League, each team captain will receive a team code from the Leagues Coordinator.  Players will use that Team Code to register for a team using Tennislink. If you do not have a team but would like to play, contact Karen Rabin to get on the available players list.  Captains will then contact you if they need to fill out their team roster.

If you are interested in becoming a captain, contact Karen Rabin for more information.
