JTT Spring & Summer Leagues
Spring Session JTT organizes in mid-to-late April, with match play running from early May to mid-June. Matches are scheduled on Saturday or Sunday evenings at various indoor facilities throughout Montgomery County. The number of matches played and length of the season is determined by the number of teams registered, as each division must lay a full round robin. Generally, teams are scheduled for one match every week.
Spring Session JTT is our "Championship season" -- where teams are organized in strict accordance with national Junior Team Tennis regulations, and with division winners advancing to Maryland State, Mid-Atlantic Section, and possibly national championship competition. Divisions offered are 10-and-under; 12-and-under; 14-and-under; and 18-and-under. All teams must be co-ed with a minimum of 3 boys and 3 girls. Teams can be formed at either the Intermediate or Advanced levels within each Division. MCTA reserves the right to combine levels within an age division if necessary to enhance play opportunities for participants. Local match format is one court of boy's singles, one court of girl's singles, and one court of mixed doubles, played simultaneously.
This year, spring 2010, four teams advanced to the USTA Maryland State Junior Team Tennis Championships in Baltimore on July 17th and 18th. Congratulations to the Pumas 12, Manor Monsters (14Intermed), the Tweeners (14 Advanced), and the Spin Heads (18 Intermed) who represented MCTA in the state tournament. All teams played fought hard, demonstrated great sportsmanship, and had a great time (in spite of the heat). The Tweeners and the Spin Heads will advanced to the Mid-Atlantic Section Championships in Fredericksburg, Va on Aug. 13 - 15th. Good luck!
