MCTA Elects new Board of Directors
MCTA elected a new Board of Directors at its November 17 meeting. The 18-person Board will be led by incoming officers including President Carol Cohen; First VP Mark Wallendjack; Treasurer Alan Klein; and Secretary Julie Copty. New members joining the Board for the first time include Second VP Natasha Moulton-Levy, Connie Moynihan, Barbara Rosen, Harold Schafke, Gnat Slayton, and Ivan Teelucksingh.
Winter Season League Schedules Completed Soon
Full-season match schedules for all MCTA Winter season leagues will be available soon. Until completed and posted in Tennislink, match scores cannot be entered. All captains will be advised as soon as their level league schedule goes "live" in TennisLink.
About the Montgomery County Tennis Association
Welcome to MCTA! Your match in Montgomery County!
Founded in 1996 to promote tennis in our area, MCTA has grown to over 5,000 players and is now the largest USTA Community Tennis Association in Maryland. MCTA welcomes players of all ages (under 10 to Super Duper Seniors 70 and above and includes playing levels NTRP 2.5 to 5.5) for league play and to participate in a variety of annual tournaments.
In 2006, MCTA created a new program to bring tennis and life skills to deserving and underserved youth in our community. T.E.A.M. Tennis, Education and Mentoring is an after-school and summer (public parks) program for middle school aged youngsters. MCTA welcomes your participation as a T.E.A.M. player, coach or mentor.

Mission
MCTA is a non-profit organization founded in 1996 to promote tennis and to support tennis players in Montgomery County, Maryland and the local area. MCTA is comitted to increasing the opportunities for juniors, adults and seniors to play recreational and organized competitive tennis. MCTA is committed to improving public tennis facilities by advocating before local governmental agencies. The foundation of MCTA rests with the more than 55 volunteers (including the Board of Directors) who organize and manage the various community based tennis teams, leagues, socials, tournaments, and training programs.

We have your match in Montgomery County!
After-School Tennis ClubsTennis instruction using the games-based approach as an after-school activity at select MCPS elementary or middle schools. Requires collaboration of local PTSA and school administration. Contact the MCTA Executive Director to discuss prospects for operating an after-school tennis club at your school!
Special Olympics
MCTA organizes adaptive tennis instruction for developmentally-challenged youth and young adults, in cooperation with Maryland Special Olympics. Instruction held weekly on Sundays from late August to mid-October. Athletes have the opportunity to compete at State championships if they desire.
Junior Team Tennis
Organized team play for boys and girls aged 10-and-under through High School with matches played Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday. Intermediate and advanced levels with singles and doubles play. MCTA offers three separate seasons: Fall (Oct-Dec), Winter (Jan-Apr), and Spring Championship (May-Jun, with winners advancing to state championship and possibly beyond).
Fall Mixed Doubles
Matches played indoors weeknights and weekends on three courts. Mixed gender teams using combined NTRP ratings (6.0, 7.0, 8.0, etc.). Registration in August with play September-December. This is a non-advancing league.
Fall Gender-based Combo Doubles Leagues
Matches played indoors weeknights and weekends on three courts. Same gender teams using combined NTRP ratings (6.5, 7.5, 8.5, etc.). Registration in August with play September-December. This is a non-advancing league.
Fall Ladies Day Doubles League
Matches played indoors weekdays between 9:00am and 3:00pm on three courts. Flights by NTRP levels. Registration in September, with play commencing after the interclub season ends (late October – mid-December). This is a non-advancing league.
USTA Winter Mixed Doubles
Matches played indoors weeknights and weekends on three courts. Mixed gender teams using combined NTRP ratings. Registration in December with play January-April. Post season advancement for local league winners.
USTA Winter Gender-based Combo Doubles
Matches played indoors weeknights and weekends on three courts. Same gender teams using combined NTRP ratings. Registration in December with play January-April. Post season advancement for local league winners.
Winter Ladies Day Doubles League
Matches played indoors weekdays between 9:00am and 3:00pm on three courts. Flights by NTRP levels. Registration in December with play January-April. This is a non-advancing league.
USTA Winter Senior Leagues
Separate gender leagues for Men and Women, Players must be 50 years of age or older to participate. Teams organized by straight NTRP levels (2.5, 3.0, 3.5, etc.). Matches play indoors weeknights and weekends on three doubles courts. Registration in December with play January – April. Post-season advancement for local league winners.
USTA Adult Leagues
Separate gender leagues for Men and Women. Players must be 18 years of age or older to participate. Matches played weeknights and weekends. Three doubles and two singles matches per team match. Flights by straight NTRP levels. Registration in March with play April-July. Post season advancement for local league winners.
USTA Super Senior (60 +) and Super Duper Senior Doubles Leagues
Separate gender leagues for Men and Women, Super Seniors leagues for players 60 years of age or older. Super Duper Seniors leagues for players 70 years of age or older. Teams organized by straight NTRP levels (3.0, 3.5, etc.). Matches play indoors weeknights and weekends on three doubles courts. Registration in early May with play late May through July. Post-season advancement for local league winners.
Women’s Tri-Level League
Women’s teams consisting of players with differing NTRP ratings. Team matches consist of one court of 4.5-rated doubles, one court of 4.0-rated doubles, and one court of 3.5-rated doubles. Registration in late June, with match play mid-July through the end of August.
Adult Mixed Combo League
Matches played indoors weeknights and weekends on three courts. Mixed gender teams using combined NTRP ratings on the half-point (6.5, 7.5, 8.5, etc.). Registration in late June, with match play mid-July through the end of August. This is a non-advancing league.
Tournaments
MCTA organizes three tennis tournaments annually: the MAS NTRP Championship, which plays over the Independence Day holiday weekend and is a feed-in to the national Banana Open tournament in October; the Bruce Francis Memorial tournament, which plays over the Labor Day holiday weekend and benefits the Brain Cancer Society; and the MCTA Junior Open, an L5 tournament for players aged 8-18 that plays in late September.
