Wondering if JTT is right for you??
MCTA/JTT offers recreational competitive tennis for juniors age 8 - 18 at the Intermediate and Advanced levels. Click here to learn more.
- What: Jr. Team Tennis is recreational tennis. JTT is a team sport, rather than an individual one - it has its own cheering section.
- Who: Divisions offered are Intermediate and Advanced levels in 10-under**, 12-under, 14-under, and 18-under. **(10-under divisions play using the Quick Start format. Advanced plays on the 78' court with the green ball; Intermed. plays on the 60' court with the orange ball). MCTA JTT players have differing levels of experience and different goals for playing. JTT is a great entry into competive tennis as well as a way to "tune up" for tournaments and varsity play.
- When: Every season is different - it all depends upon what courts we have available and how many teams we have in each division. Generally, we attempt to schedule age groups as such: 10-under - both Saturdays and Sundays; 12 and under - Saturday afternoons and evenings; 14 and under - both Saturday and Sunday afternoons and evenings; 18 and under - Sunday afternoons and evenings.
- Where: Matches are scheduled all around the county, both in-door and out-door. This season matches are held at Georgetown Prep, Quince Orchard, Bethesda CC, Manor CC, TCCP, Norbeck, Wheaton, Bullis, Whitley Park, Lakewood CC, Congressional CC, Columbia CC.
- How: Players register onto a team (once one has been identified) through TennisLink. (Registration instructions are provided by the team captains). Teams may form themselves or with the help of the Coordinator. Individual players will be referred to a team on a first-come, first-served basis with attention to location of other team members. Player fees vary depending upon the length of the season and are based primarily on court costs. The fees for a typical season in the 12-under and older divisions may range from $130 - $150 (USTA membership not included). Fees for the 10-under divisions are less because they play less frequently and matches are shorter.
JTT Seasons:
Fall (October - December): Team registration is closed. Teams may be of any gender mix and players must be age eligible at the start of the season. Substitute players are allowed. This is a non-championship season.
Winter (January - April): Team registration is closed. Teams may be of any genger mix and players must be age eligible at the start of the season. Subsitute players are allowed. This is a non-championship season.
Spring (May - June): Team registration will open in early March April for play in May and June. Teams must have at least 3 boys and 3 girls; substitute players are not allowed. This is a Championship Season - division winners are eligible to attend the Md. State Championships in July.
Summer 2012: MCTA does not offer a summer season. Please check back in the fall. Or consider the Junior Ladder which runs late spring through early fall. It's a great deal for $10 - unlimited play, rolling enrollment, and matches when/where you want them. Go to www.competitionmanager.com/application/home.php?org_id=125 for more information.
Remember to check the USTA's Tennislink site for league and match information
